About Heather Jean Photography

Photography started as a way to capture moments… but for me, it became something much bigger.

I’m Heather, an Alaska-based photographer with a passion for freezing the moments you felt—and the ones you didn’t even realize were happening. From the intensity of a perfectly timed block at the net to the quiet pride in a senior’s smile, I focus on the real, raw, and unforgettable moments that tell your story.

My love for photography is deeply rooted in my own life. As a mom of two daughters—Amaya, now 21 and living in Washington, and Kaylen, a 16-year-old sophomore in high school and athlete—I understand just how quickly these moments pass. I’ve spent years on the sidelines, in the stands, and behind the lens, learning to anticipate not just the action, but the emotion behind it. That perspective is what drives me to capture images that truly matter.

With a strong passion for sports—especially volleyball—I specialize in capturing fast-paced action and the energy behind every play. Being part of the Alaska volleyball community, I don’t just photograph the game—I understand it. I know when to anticipate the hit, the block, the celebration, and the heart that goes into every point.

But my work doesn’t stop on the court.

I also capture life’s biggest milestones—from senior sessions and family portraits to maternity moments—creating images that feel natural, meaningful, and true to you. Whether it’s a high-energy gym or a quiet Alaska backdrop, my goal is always the same: to create photos that take you back to that exact moment in time.

What matters most to me is making photography accessible, comfortable, and real. I believe you shouldn’t have to choose between quality and affordability, and I take pride in offering both. I’ll guide you through the process, help you feel confident in front of the camera, and deliver images you’ll be proud to share and keep forever.

Because at the end of the day…

it’s more than a photo.

It’s the moment you never forget.

In loving Memory of Pamela J. Stone

From the Sidelines to the the Storyteller

I was never the quiet mom—I was cheering, clapping, right there in the energy of the game. But the moment I picked up a camera, something shifted. I still felt every play, every point, every win… just from behind the lens. Suddenly, I wasn’t just watching—I was part of the team in a whole new way, capturing the hustle, the heart, and those split-second moments the players don’t even realize they’re creating. What started as snapping photos turned into something bigger—a way to show these athletes just how strong, fierce, and incredible they really are. 📸

My Greatest Inspiration

My greatest inspiration will aways be my beautiful daughters, Amaya and Kaylen. Through capturing the moments in their lives, I found a passion that grew into something bigger- a desire to preserve those same meaningful memories for others.
